Located within the campus of IIT Madras, Chennai, this early-stage 3D printed research booth marked one of Tvasta’s foundational explorations into automated construction technologies. Developed in 2018 for the Civil Engineering Department, the project demonstrated the practical application of off-site concrete 3D printing in creating compact, functional built spaces with speed, precision, and reduced material wastage.
Fabricated using Tvasta’s in-house construction 3D printing technology, the booth served as an experimental prototype to study printable concrete behavior, structural feasibility, and rapid construction workflows within an academic environment. The project reflects the collaborative spirit between academia and deep-tech innovation, helping advance research in digital construction and automated building systems in India.
As one of Tvasta’s earliest campus-based implementations, the project laid the groundwork for future advancements in scalable 3D printed infrastructure, showcasing how emerging construction technologies can support faster, smarter, and more sustainable building practices.
